Devour Greek Food And Dance At A Colombian Bar In Astoria

  • Drinks
  • Food

Astoria has been known for its mastery of Greek food long before Anemos Estiatorio opened its door, but this new restaurant is only boosting the neighborhood's reputation. Part of their motto is “the food will seduce you"—and they basically had us after that. The dining room boasts your typical white-table-clothed elegance—with the addition of a permeating blue light that makes it feel like you’re in a fancy spaceship where the aliens love moussaka. The menu has all the Greek dishes you’d want and expect but with modern twists—your feta cheese might come sesame encrusted or barrel-aged—and they absolutely nail all manner of seafood. If anyone can make branzino seductive, it’s this place.

Head around the corner for more bold decor and a lively atmosphere at Ritmos 60. Colorful decorations spill from the ceiling at this Colombian bar, joined by jewel-toned bar tables, and bottles of Mexican soda that line the bar. They have food and hookah, but it’s worth focusing your efforts on sucking down as many passion fruit mojitos as you can get your hands on. That fruity liquid courage will get you and your dancing partner primed to join the throng of couples shaking off the stress of the week to old school Spanish tunes all night.
