This Cozy Greenpoint Bar Boasts Booze-Free “Social Sodas” That Are Just as Good as Its Cocktails

When autumnal and winter winds are chilling all of your romantic passion, Citroën is the place to go. This relatively new French bistro and bar is all 1920’s charm with tiled walls, carved wood, and twisted brass accents. With cocktail maven Dawn Eldridge behind the bar, you won’t be disappointed whether you go with their signature rye cocktail or one of their sober "social sodas," which come in flavors like squash and beet to really make you feel virtuous for skipping the booze. Any lingering memories of the polar vortex will be banished by the hearty plates of cauliflower gratin, coq au vin, and grilled branzino.

Then, head down the street to Elder Greene to hunker down in an equally cozy spot slinging great cocktails. The use of candlelight at night along with strategically placed mirrors makes this surprisingly spacious bar feel intimate. If you’re not up for their rosemary-infused gin drink or a classic Old Fashioned, they’ve got an eclectic selection of beers and ciders to get adventurous with.
