Dinnertable is a Japanese restaurant in the East Village hidden inside The Garret East bar. You and your person will enter by an incognito doorbell—and that’s not where the home-y vibes stop. The place is decorated like a real dining room in some very stylish person’s home, and there are just 20 seats up for grabs. Though it seems like this place should be crazy expensive, there isn’t a single dish over $22. The majority of the room is held for walk-ins only each night with a max party size of four people. We say all you need is two.
After dinner, head to nearby self-proclaimed date-night bar Desnuda. Famous for its ceviche, oysters, and impressive list of South American wines, Desnuda has an ornate marble bar and intimate vibe. The cocktails are $13, and we recommend the Conquistador with mezcal, grapefruit and “devil’s tongue”. Their house mojito, as expected, is also stellar.
