Brunch and high energy don’t often go hand-in-hand, but that’s only because you haven’t been to Lips yet. The Drag Brunch at this locale is something that needs to be experienced, with performers singing Broadway tunes, chandeliers sparkling overhead, a venue borrowed straight from the Moulin Rouge, and brunch options named after classic Broadway productions, like the Mamma Mia mozzarella omelet, Wicked eggs benedict, and Phantom of the Opera Belgian waffles. The total cost is $28, but be sure to reserve seats! These Sunday shows sell out fast. Sometimes you will need to plan 2 or 3 weeks in advance. For an extra $6, you get unlimited mimosas and Bloody Marys.
Now that you’ve gotten your Broadway fix, head to Draught 55 for a decidedly different vibe. This bar is casual and classic, with a brick-and-wood layout, charming, old-fashioned atmosphere, and 42 different beers on tap. In fact, speaking of beer, we think you’ll love the Grimm double IPA from Brooklyn and their house-brewed American lager. And, if you want some extra charm, get a seat in the conservatory-esque back room, where the all-glass ceiling and walls are laced with intertwining vines (aka ridiculous amounts of charm). If you need something else to chew on after brunch, try their apricot beer glazed soft pretzels. Because whoa.
