Pub Popcorn And Classic Literary Cocktails
Begin your night at the divey and dark Fourth Avenue Pub where draft beers abound. This bar can easily become your new go-to—drinks are extremely cheap, the staff is super friendly, and free popcorn is on the bar (ask for Old Bay seasoning to spice it up—trust). There’s not much space inside, although the venue doesn’t crowd often; however, if the weather is nice, there are some picnic tables for lounging. Fun fact: the bathroom has a chalkboard and chalk so you can write notes or draw your feelings while you’re doing your thing.
Next, head to wine bar Wolf & Deer, which offers an ever-changing, creative cocktail menu, snacks, and an interesting crowd. Drinks are named after classic books like The Great Gatsby and Brave New World, and during happy hour (every day until 8 p.m.), you get $3 off. The interior is beautiful with lots of exposed brick and a big U-shaped bar. It’s small, but very cozy, and creates for a nice space to actually hear what your person has to say instead of having to shout over loud, overplayed music.
