In a cute, little spot in a quiet nook of Greenpoint, you’ll find Glasserie. And you need to know this: It boasts amazing bread. They serve two kinds—flatbread and flaky, and if you’re going to choose one, despite the unattractive name, flaky’s the way to go. We repeat: Order all of the bread. And what better than bread to pair with the long list of Mediterranean dips Glasserie has to offer? Oh, and the cocktails are inventive and delicious. In terms of ambiance, there’s definite mood lighting, perfect for a romantic dinner. While Glasserie may be a trek for some, it’s well worth it.
Once your appetite has been satiated, head to Sama Street, a new cocktail bar that infuses Asian ingredients into both its drinks and food. What does that mean exactly? Picture this: Japanese whiskey paired with yuzu and cardamom, or a Thai rum mixed with mint and coconut. Yum. As you might expect, prices for these handcraft cocktails are on the higher end, but you’re paying for something unique you won’t find elsewhere. The bar’s owners spent a large quantity of time traveling in Asia during their childhoods, so they’ve really tried to bring an Asian authenticity to the decor and cuisine.
