This East Village Restaurant Is Entirely Dedicated to Gnocchi
Bad news! This plan has expired. Go check out some great new ideas here.
Straight out of Napoli, Gnoccheria is a cozy trattoria in the East Village where pretty much everything revolves around gnocchi (the name of the place kind of gives it away). Choose between traditional homemade gnocchi or homemade stuffed gnocchi, and then decide on one of their 14 sauce options, including some standout options like Salmone (cream, salmon, shrimp, and zucchini) and Contadina (cherry tomato, arugula, and parmigiana). You’re also welcome to order a salad or panini instead, but where’s the fun in that?
After dinner, check out an improv comedy show at UCB East. This beer-stained dive may not seem like much, but its comedy roots run deep (fun fact: it was founded by a small group of budding comedians in the ‘90s, which included Amy Poehler). Whether you make it in time for the 9pm “Theme Party” show or the 10:30pm “Take It Personal: The Hip Hop Improv Show”, UCB is a great place to check out the best of NYC improv. And you might want to keep an eye on the lineup, as plenty of UCB’s alums have gone on to successful careers in entertainment (most notably on Saturday Night Live).
