The Setting of Greenpoint’s First Nonalcoholic Bar Is Just as Pretty as Its Mocktails
Living a vegan lifestyle is all the rage these days, hence all the cool vegan-friendly spots around the city. Jungle Cafe is a vegan favorite, offering cool vibes and food that’s 100% vegan—and kosher to boot. The atmosphere is very casual, with community tables and little alcoves with pillows (somebody say snuggle time?). There’s both a food buffet and an a la carte menu, which makes accommodating different tastes a lot easier, and you’ll find many cuisines here, including Mexican, Polish, Chinese, and Indian. The coconut curry is delish, so make sure to snack on that.
Next stop, Getaway where the drinks are absolutely tasty and absolutely alcohol-free. Yes, this is Greenpoint’s first nonalcoholic bar, which is obviously not everyone’s cup of tea, but for some, it’s a game changer. The bar is beautiful and the mocktails are, too. A Trip to Ikea is a crowd fav (lingonberry, lemon, vanilla cardamom, and cream), as is the Paper Train (lemon juice, tobacco syrup, vanilla, and San Pellegrino chinotto). While non-drinkers are the key demo, you really don’t have to live an alcohol-free lifestyle to appreciate the awesomeness that is Getaway.
