A Fail-Proof Pasta & Live Jazz Music Date In The West Village
L’Artusi is for nights where you’re really feelin’ yourself—or, rather, each other. When you want to do it up big, L’Artusi is both a classic and a standout. With big, Italian flavor and an adventurous wine list to match, this West Village staple—and sister restaurant to dell’amina—consistently delivers an excellent and elegant date night dining experience. Join the beautiful people, order a bottle of red, and focus on the pasta—and each other. Save room for dessert and order the olive oil cake, which is a consistent favorite. If you can’t snag a reservation, we recommend heading straight for the bar—there’s less of a wait, and as a couple, you’ll have slightly more room.
We love jazz, and we find that we particularly love jazz when we’re a bottle of wine deep. If you, too, find that you have better rhythm after a few glasses of the good stuff, head to Smalls Jazz Club after dinner. Nestled right in the heart of the Village, this no-frills underground jazz scene features talented emerging musicians and top artists alike. Open til 4 a.m. daily, Smalls prides itself on its quality jazz and top musicians. Be warned though: the focus is definitely on the musicians here, so don’t count on too much talking. Whether it’s your first foray into jazz, or you consider yourself an enthusiast, you’ll find a lot to listen to and love at this intimate and lively venue.
