Lucali is a BYOB thin-crust pizza joint in Carroll Gardens beloved by everyone from neighborhood couples to Beyonce and Jay-Z. The vibe here is so romantic, the owner, Mark Iacono, has spelled out MARRY ME on pizzas in mushroom slices several times for proposals. The pizzas are $26, and very much worth every penny. They don’t take reservations, they don’t deliver and they don’t serve by the slice. The pizzas are all made on a large marble slab where everyone can watch — a performance in itself. Regardless of how great the pizza is, the service can be a bit gruff and the wait can be long, so maybe don’t bring a first date here without a backup plan.
“Roots n Rucus” is a night of folk, old-time, and blues music every Wednesday night at Jalopy Theater. The talented performers play banjos, guitars, washboards, tub-basses, kazoos, harmonicas, and more. If you’re a true New York music fan, you will enjoy this night. There is no cover.
