This Controversial (and Extremely Healthy) “Clean Chinese” Restaurant Was Made for the Instagram Set

Bad news! This plan has expired. Go check out some great new ideas here.

It's Chinese for dinner tonight at the newly opened Lucky Lee's. Perfectly-tailored for the Instagram crowd, and ticking all the trend boxes, the space features a very cool wall filled with palm-tree wallpaper, high ceilings, bamboo lights, and another wall decorated with Asian-style bowls. Dubbed (controversially so) as “clean Chinese,” the entire menu is gluten-free, dairy-free, wheat-free, corn-free, peanut cashew, and pistachio-free (a feat in itself). The team also uses non-GMO oil and never adds in refined sugar, MSG, or food coloring. It's the epitome of all things healthy. But that doesn’t mean it skimps on any of the flavor or punch of traditional Chinese food.

After you’ve indulged in the visual and food feast at Lucky Lee’s, stop off at Formerly Crow’s for one last drink. Keeping true to its West Village bar history, the spot is part of a proud tradition of neighborhood drinking establishments that have occupied the unique basement space at 85 Washington Place. Pull up a seat at the bar and blend in with the locals, or grab one of the tables for a more intimate drink. There’s a pool table, plenty of beers on tap, a cocktail menu, and more food if you’re still hungry. True to its speakeasy roots, this bar is a gathering place for any and all types of drinkers from noon to the wee hours.
