First, let’s celebrate longevity at Madonia Bakery for their sweet-toothed centennial. With old-school Italian roots and a no-frills environment, this family-run bakery has what many believe to be the single best cannoli in the borough (translated: welcome to heaven). That said, you’re also welcome to their vast collection of biscotti (with everything from Napolitano to Quaresimali) and classic Italian cookies—all of which played a heavy hand in getting them (led by owner Peter Madonia) to the hundred-year mark.

Next, head to Arthur Avenue Fiasco for some dinner. Surrounded by other competing Italian restaurants, this one, in particular, has an edge over the others for a number of reasons: its cozy Italian decor (we’re big fans of the classic red-and-white checkered tablecloths and whitewashed brick walls), its homespun atmosphere, and local gourmet hero chef Roberto Paciullo pulling the culinary strings. With classic Italian cuisine (like Clams Oreganata and Linguini Shrimp Fra Diavolo), this is a tried and true favorite of the neighborhood that’ll easily do your inner Vito Corleone proud.
