What’s your sign, baby? Mood Ring in Bushwick is a cocktail bar that's all about the sun, stars, and moon. Cocktails aren't too bad at $11, but we recommend going with the Astrology Special, which is $12 and created with the essence of that month’s sign. The bartenders are knowledgeable about astrology, so go ahead and ask them about your sign. Take it from us, this is the perfect environment to totally let loose and be yourself. They're known as a safe space for every kind of person, and every kind of couple. The sign on the bathrooms say it all: “A restroom is a restroom.” #Mood.
After spacey cocktails, you're in for a treat. Maite is a Colombian-European restaurant with an eclectic atmosphere—each chair in the restaurant is slightly different. Ella Schmidt, the owner and chef, was born in Colombia to a German father and Colombian mother. Prior to opening Maite, she was the pastry/pasta chef at Il Buco. Formerly a family residence in the early 1900s, then a bodega for the past 80 years, Maite is now all about farm to fork, serving up dishes that range from pork belly and prime rib eye to collard greens and fried gnocchi.
