Part of being a New Yorker means you’re always on the go. Pre-game your couple time tonight by learning how to leave the burnout behind. Start your evening at MNDFL, where meditation instructors lead you through 45 minutes of deep awareness to introduce calm and bring intention back into your day. Sessions are themed, so you can choose to focus on one of the 12 categories on offer, including emotions, intention, mantra, and sleep. For the novices, the studio offers 101 classes, your first of which is $10. For those more advanced, MDFL offers teachers trained in practices ranging from Vedic, to Kundalini, and Theravada.
Once you’ve learned how to live in the present, turn your attention to your other half at Cha-An Tea House. Refresh your relaxation with tea, sake, or cocktails at this Japanese tea house that prides itself on omotenashi, or whole-hearted hospitality. Quality time tastes even sweeter here, in part due to the tea house’s carefully crafted desserts like matcha chiffon cake, black sesame creme brulee, and the famous Sakura raindrop cake.
