Make Date Night Smart Again At The Morgan Library & Museum

We love our dinner-drinks date nights, but sometimes it's good to shake things up. How better to do that than to step into New York history with your love? Head to the Morgan Library & Museum for their free admission Friday hours; from 7-9pm on Fridays, an admission that is usually $22 is—you guessed it—free. A complex of buildings of different styles and periods, the library started as the private library of financier Pierpont Morgan and was opened to the public in 1924 by his son J.P. Morgan Jr. Not only is the building itself beautiful with a garden court, and glass & steel-paneled pavillions (on its own, perfect for date night) it's also currently playing host to some incredible exhibitions. We recommend their ongoing exhibit of the original library—it's built in the classical style of villas from the Italian Renaissance—and if you really want the full historical experience for this exhibit, take their 1907 Augmented Reality Tour.

Next, head over to the Franchia Vegan Cafe for something decidedly less historical. Whipping up vegan Asian fusion, this cafe has fashioned itself after classic tea houses, with a quaint and calming vibe that doubles as genuine sensory medicine for life in the Big Apple. With an open two-story setting and dishes that range between spicy Korean bi bim noodles and some fall-friendly kabocha pumpkin bibimbap, Franchia is an ideal locale in which you two can live deliciously while giving your body a break on meat.
