Elevated, Peaceful Japanese Food Followed By Cocktails & Tapas In Midtown
Go for Japanese homestyle comfort food at Ootoya, a well-established, elevated chain restaurant with select global locations based in Tokyo. This spot swears by authenticity, so everything from their fresh ingredients down to its sleek serving dishes is meant to channel an honest, comforting sense of a near-spiritual Japanese dining experience. Order up one of their “sets”, and pour over deep fried, flavorfully salty or pleasantly sweet specially curated dishes for a warm winter meal. We highly recommend their Soba noodles, made fresh in-house.
After dinner, swing by Ortzi in the LUMA Hotel for cocktails and tapas in one of the most gorgeous atmospheres we’ve ever found in midtown (or anywhere in New York for that matter). A Basque restaurant, the wine and cuisine here is inspired by the flavors of the western Pyrenees that straddle the border between France and Spain on the Atlantic coast. You can order the Spanish prawns or pork ribs—but we recommend splitting the Paella Valenciana for a little taste of everything.
