Who says date night needs to be fancy? Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop in Greenpoint is a low-key pizza place that owes all of its creative influence to the 1980s. With vintage wood paneling, orange retro bench tables, and counter service that offers everything from classic cheese and “mootz” to their specialty Hellboy (a pepperoni pie with Mike’s Hot Honey) and Freddy Prince (upside down Sicilian), the most overt vintage standout is definitely the old-school working TV set with attached Atari console. As far as dietary restrictions go, they also offer vegan pies.

After dinner, carry over Paulie Gee’s throwback sensibility to The Diamond. This trendy, elevated dive bar promises “magical times” with a vintage kick, including multicolored wall murals, bathroom walls lined with used cassettes, and—The Diamond’s pride and joy/fan favorite—indoor shuffleboard. Just be sure to order some drinks while you wait your turn to play (we’re big fans of their craft beer selection, like the Starchild or Zwickel) and toast to all things romantic and retro. Their outdoor garden patio also has a quirky, old-fashioned gondola in which you can absolutely sit and hang out.
