Feel Swanky and Sneaky at this Underground Cocktail Lounge with Creative Drinks
It's time for a laid-back, early dinner, and nothing sounds better than comfort food. No one does it better than Rafele on 7th Avenue, serving up cozy Italian food and warming wine in a charming atmosphere. Order Romero's Favorite to split—it's pizza stuffed with arugula, prosciutto, mozzarella, olive oil, and chili flakes. Instagram challenge: how many mini pigs can you get a photo of?
Once you’ve got your dinner fix, head over to Slowly Shirley (that is to say, head over to The Happiest Hour and have the host or hostess lead you downstairs to Slowly Shirley, seeing as it’s an underground speakeasy). A legit throwback to Prohibition-Era New York, down to the Art Deco architecture and old-school tunes (admittedly with songs recorded post-Prohibition), this dimly-lit space is a romantic’s dream. It also doesn’t hurt that their cocktails are drinkable works of art, whether you opt for something spicy like the green chili vodka-based Swamp Fire or the maple-tinged Highwayman. If the hunger monster comes back, there's no better burger in New York City than their Happiest Burger. Just be sure to get it with their ridiculously delectable fries.
