Romance of Jewelry x Flora Bar
Bad news! This plan has expired. Go check out some great new ideas here.
Pre-game Valentine’s Day (and get some early shopping done) with a little inspiration from jeweler Donna Distefano. Both an artist and a master goldsmith, Distefano combines ancient metalsmithing techniques with inspiration from poetry, world history, and medieval art and literature to create one-of-a-kind pieces. At the Romance of Jewelry event hosted by the Met Store and Donna Distefano herself, you’ll sip cocktails, admire rings and necklaces, and maybe even make a purchase or two for your S.O or yourself (not-so-subtle hints optional, but strongly encouraged). Distefano’s gems are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and she counts Sheryl Crow, Johnny Depp, and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry among her clients.
Whether you leave with a gift bag or with plans to drop a few well-timed suggestions close to V-Day, we recommend heading to The Met’s sister site for dinner at critics’ choice Flora Bar. With marble surfaces, dark leather banquettes, and expansive windows with views of Madison Avenue, Flora Bar’s romance and grandeur will have you quickly forgetting that it’s technically a museum restaurant. The extensive wine list and dishes like lobster crudo, rutabaga and raclette, and chocolate parfait reinforce the notion that Flora Bar is all romance. Who knows — with a setting like this, you might just go back to the Met Store for dessert a la Distefano after all.
