Whether or not you think salsa is a beloved enough condiment to qualify for sainthood, you’ll be feeling religious after a delicious experience at Santa Salsa. This Brooklyn spot is part restaurant, part art project that aims to bring authentic Venezuelan street food to the masses. The art project comes in with the interior, which has deep red walls, scattered tables, a long bar and art inspired by skate culture and the hot dogs they serve. Speaking of hot dogs: yes, that’s a Venezuelan street food—at least when it’s loaded with fried and smashed plantains, avocados, and other goodies. Also on the menu are their rave worthy elote fries and some cocktails to really get you on that south of the border vibe.
Your next stop is The Narrows—a minimalistic, Manhattan-styled cocktail bar in Bushwick. The decor is clean and simple with plain walls and basic bar stools, but the cocktail menu defines mixology excellence and is far from basic. The back patio is (surprise surprise) very narrow, but a very wonderful, hidden gem as well.
