The South Has Risen Again in Long Island City

  • Drinks
  • Food

We have the South to thank for sweet tea, chicken fried steak, and moonshine, but they also gifted us with Sugar Freak, an authentic Southern restaurant in Long Island City with a menu full of Cajun-Creole cuisine. Get yourself and your S.O. something off their po’-boy menu, or try traditional Louisiana home cooking by way of their seafood boils and jambalaya. If you're feeling adventurous, try menu standouts like crawfish mac and cheese and popcorn alligator. Wash it all down with NOLA-style cocktails like hurricanes, zombies, or swamp juice for some finger-lickin’ good.

Once you’ve finished sampling the South, head over to Ovelia for a nightcap. This Greek restaurant pairs a taverna menu with nightclub ambiance, so enjoy a cocktail or two while grazing on Mediterranean spreads and meze.
