This Free Comedy Show Will Have You Laughing All Night—Plus It's Family-Friendly
If comedy that goes blue (as in raunchy) makes you feel blue (as in sad), then The Living Room Show is here to rectify that. This show has been running for many years and is one of the longest running comedy shows in Brooklyn. Part of their success could be that it’s free and completely kid and family-friendly because of its clean material. The hosts, Turner Sparks and Aaron Kominos-Smith, bring in top stand-ups and sketch comedians—past guests have taken their talents to Comedy Central, Conan, and The Tonight Show. You can check their Facebook or Twitter to peep the week’s lineup. It all goes down at Postmark Cafe, a cozy spot with coffee, pastries, and a kid-friendly nook.
After the show, wind down the night with drinks and snacks at Halyards. This neighborhood bar is notoriously laid-back, even late into the night. Though they have some funky decor (gilded pineapples and a light up mirror), the rest of the spacious bar is true to its dive-y roots. They have a nice selection of draft beers, and their simple bar food that ranges from elevated sandwiches to truffle pizza is perfect for snacking. Surprisingly, they also bust out a great cocktail menu that’s worth making your way through. If they have it that night, we recommend going for the pineapple cider.
