The Best Happy Hour Spots In NYC For A Date

For some, happy hour is a way of life. For me, it’s a great way to a) relax right after work, giving my boyfriend and me a reason to take it slow, and b) experience a solid sampling of a bar or restaurant. Happy hours are definitely not lacking in this city, so I’ve made the most of it by compiling a list of where to find a happy hour spot every day of the week. Read on to find out where you and your love should go next.

Located in Flatiron, this moody Italian spot is best known for its mouth-watering mozzarella. But Obica also offers wine and beer for $6, plus housemade cocktails starting at $9. A perfect place to visit if you’ve got a reason to celebrate, Obica is also a go-to spot if you’re just looking for a detour home to unwine-d (see what I did there?).

Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4-7 pm

Sharing is caring, and few things are better shared than tapas. Boqueria is all about family-style meals served to perfection. As early at 3:30 and as late as 7, every Boqueria location serves up both classic and exotic cocktails ranging from $5 to $10, as well as appetizers from $3 to $15.

Happy Hour: Varies by location

UES: Monday-Friday 3:30-7 pm

Flatiron: Monday-Friday 3-6:30 pm

Soho: Monday-Friday 3-7 pm

Brooklyn: Monday-Friday 3-6 pm

Tomi Jazz

Japanese appetizers and live jazz come together at this cozy Midtown spot. With a huge (and diverse) selection of bites and drinks for less, you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Come for the happy hour, stay for the live music!

Happy Hour: Sunday-Thursday 5:30-7:30 pm

For Latin-inspired cocktails, Leyenda is a must-try spot. From 5 to 7, swing by Boerum Hill and enjoy a limited selection of cocktails, beer, and wine for just $7. In the mood for appetizers? Try their Peruvian ceviche or spinach and manchego empanadas.

Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 5-7 pm, Saturday-Sunday 12-4 pm

Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden

Pro tip: Few things in life provide as much pleasure as starting the weekend early. And with a beer garden that offers $5 house wine, $4 mugs, and $14 pitchers, you have a sweeter reason to finish off the work day. Get your favorite couples together and go for a group date at Bohemian Hall, a Czech spot in Astoria. I highly recommend pairing drinks with their grilled country kolbasa with sauerkraut!

Happy Hour: Monday-Thursday 5-7 pm, Friday 3-7 pm

The Shanty

I’ll be honest - when it comes to places that pride themselves on their cocktails, I can’t help but hold them to a high standard. And when it comes to The Shandy, I’m beyond impressed. This intimate bar (attached to its distillery) tucked away in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, has some of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted. Every day of the week, you get two hours of $7 cocktails.

Happy Hour: Monday-Thursday 6-8 pm, Friday 5-7 pm, Saturday-Sunday 2-4 pm

At Verlaine, happy hour is extra long, extra good, and extra fancy. On a Sunday night, take your S.O. out for drinks and dancing. Toast to their famous lychee martinis, sangria, cocktails, and more, all for only $6 and under. Finish off the night (and weekend) with live Cuban music and salsa dancing.

Happy Hour: Monday-Sunday 5-10 pm

Whether cocktails, grub or music (or a combination of all three) are on the agenda, you can always find a place for happy hour any night you choose. What are some of your go-to happy hour bars and restaurants? Tell us on social @idktonight!
