How To Throw The Most NYC-Inspired Wedding Ever

You're engaged (or maybe you're about to be). It's all very exciting. But you want your wedding to be different. There's no better way to host an unforgettable wedding than by harnessing the magic and uniqueness of New York City. Jordan Scott and Nick Gash were married this past fall, and hand-picked vendors that would make their wedding a NYC fever dream. As the founder of Cobble, Jordan is a bonafied expert of NYC experiences and knew just which elements would make her weekend getaway supremely special. As a pandemic couple, they ultimately had a 3-year engagement and plenty of time to get it just right.

Read on below for their choices (and some special deals!)

The Venue: Cedar Lakes Estate

1 Team Usa Way, Port Jervis, NY 12771

Just because you want to have a New York City vibey wedding, doesn't mean you need to be in New York City. In fact, we decided that a 90-minute weekend getaway from the city was the perfect choice. Here's what made Cedar Lakes Estate special for us.

  • It was basically adult summer camp. Nick and I both grew up going to overnight camp, and we wanted to capture the close, fun spirit of that idea with our closest people. We also wanted something that was more than just 4 hours in one night.
  • On Friday night, after our Welcome Dinner, we hosted a lakeside talent show—basically a cabaret with our most talented (and most brave) friends and family. It was absolutely epic. We even had boozy rootbeer floats and popcorn waiting for everyone!
  • On Saturday morning before the wedding, we hosted a campy color war—complete with branded hats that said "That Wedding" in their respective teams color. If you thought field day was fun when you were a kid, I highly recommend doing this. Everyone got to know each other and banded together in the spirit of competition before the wedding. Post-color war, everyone posted up by the lake or pool and relaxed before getting ready.
Want to check out Cedar Lakes yourself before pulling the trigger? They're a perfect weekend getaway all year long when they're not hosting weddings. The winter cabins and events are pure magic. Check out the cabins and availability here.

The Planner: Amanda Savory Events

The Planner: Amanda Savory Events

My biggest tip here: find a planner that's willing to get as weird and wild as you would like. No mountain was too high to climb for Amanda. Every single idea was explored and vetted. She did Katie Couric’s daughters wedding just a few weeks before ours at Cedar Lakes as well!

The Videographer: NST Pictures

The Videographer: NST Pictures

You know how some people think they don't need a videographer? They're wrong. NST Pictures was with us every step of the way on our wedding weekend, masterfully capturing each moment. But the best part about NST Pictures? They were willing to create a very special edit of our wedding video: one filmed and edited in the style of The Office. That means side interviews with our friends and family, hilarious zoom-in's on different reactions, and more. We absolutely loved it.

Bonus! NST is offering a special giveaway for NYC-based couples—one lucky couple will win an 'Engagement Video Shoot' in Manhattan. Enter to win here (if you're not getting married, winning this for a friend is probably the best gift you could ever give them).

The Dress: Bridal Reflections

437 5th Ave, New York, NY 10016

As a pandemic bride, I purchased my gown almost three years before I was able to walk down the aisle in it. THREE. YEARS. And I still loved it as much as I did the day I found it. We did tons of custom work on the gown—from adding buttons down the skirt, to adding embellishments on the sleeves, and making the skirt removable so that I could have an outfit change without actually changing! The tailor at Bridal Reflections used to be quite well known on a certain wedding dress-buying television show, and she did an absolutely amazing job bringing my idea to life.

The Ring: Greenwich Street Jewelers

The Ring: Greenwich Street Jewelers

Engaged or not, if you want to get a spectacular gift for yourself of your S.O., go pick something up here. I needed to reset my ring because the diamond kept getting loose (slow tear) but ultimately ended up with a ring I loved even more. Even better, they completed it so quickly so that I'd have the ring for our wedding weekend!

The Florals: Dark & Diamond

Let's just say Dark & Diamond understood the assignment. We wanted bright. We wanted explosive. We wanted different. The bouquets were masterful, the table flowers were cut-off flower heads scattered everywhere between dark candelabras, and everything was joyous.

The Entertainment: Cirque Central

37 W 26th St, New York, NY 10010

Cirque Central is where we upped the ante. We wanted our wedding to feel like a mix of House of Yes, McKittrick Hotel and some sort of parlor magic show. Cirque Central provided the following elements to our wedding that made it one-of-a-kind:

1. An aerialist champagne pourer at cocktail hour.

2. A tableside magician to walk around and do close-up magic for everyone who wasn't big on dancing.

3. A sexy cirque bow and arrow performance in the middle of dinner.

4. LED disc dessert servers.

5. Dancing disco ball heads at our after party in the tree house!

Whatever magic you want, they'll find a way to make it happen.

The Band: Cafe Wha?!

115 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012

The Band: Cafe Wha?!

The very first vendor we booked? The Cafe Wha house band. Not only are they the highest energy, insanely talented group of musicians, but you can go watch your band anytime by hopping over to their club on Macdougal Street. Relive your wedding night over and over again! No one left the dance floor the entire night. They were probably the biggest hit of the entire weekend.

The Glam: Beautini

267 5th Ave, New York, NY 10016

The Glam: Beautini

267 5th Ave, New York, NY 10016

Whether you're booking the glam for your entire wedding party, or you just want to look incredible for any sort of event, Beautini is your team. They perfectly executed my old Hollywood vision, and every single woman in my bridal party looked and felt like a million bucks (including the moms, who are notoriously hard to please).
